Getting started
From sign-up to your first verified alert in about five minutes.
Heimdall checks your websites, APIs and servers from three regions (Istanbul, Stockholm and Frankfurt) and opens an incident only when a quorum of those regions agrees that something is down. This guide takes you from sign-up to your first alert.
1. Create an account
Sign up at /app/signup. The Free plan includes 10 monitors, 3-region quorum, one status page and 10 SMS + 3 phone calls a month, plus e-mail and Telegram alerts. Every new organisation can also try Team free for 14 days, once, without a card.
2. Add your first monitor
Open Monitors → + Monitor and choose a type and a target. On Team and Business you can also pick the regions to check from; otherwise the monitor runs from the default regions. The same monitor created through the API looks like this:
{
"name": "API health",
"type": "http",
"target": "https://api.example.com/health",
"interval": "60s",
"regions": ["ist", "stc", "fra"],
"quorum": 2,
"conditions": [
"[STATUS] == 200",
"[RESPONSE_TIME] < 800",
"[BODY].status == ok"
]
}Use “Test now” in the monitor form to run one check from a region of your choice before saving.
3. Add your phone number
Alerts go to the members of your organisation — at first, that is you. E-mail works at once. For SMS and calls, open Profile → Notifications and add your Turkish mobile number (+90): it gets one SMS with a confirmation link, and nothing else until you accept on that phone (see SMS & calls). Invite your colleagues under Settings → Users; each of them adds their own number the same way.
4. Choose an escalation policy
On-call rotations and escalation policies come with Team and Business. There, new organisations start with a “Default” policy: notify the primary on-call immediately, then the secondary after 10 minutes. Edit it under On-call → Escalation policies.
5. Publish a status page (optional)
Create a status page, add components and map them to monitors. The page is built as static HTML and published to a CDN within seconds.
